West Central Tigers Win the 2018 Silver Stick International Las Vegas Regional U18AA Tournament
Over the American Thanksgiving weekend (November 23-25, 2018), the West Central Tigers had much to be thankful for. They won the Silver Stick U18 AA Las Vegas Tournament banner in a hard fought battle against the California Wave in the final Sunday morning. The tournament consisted of teams from Alaska, Utah, California and Arizona with the Tigers being the lone Canadian team, winning 3 and losing one, advancing them to the final. The championship game saw the Tigers and California Wave play 3 hard periods of hockey , with the Tigers pulling off the 3-2 victory, earning themselves the tournament banner and the right to proudly sing their Canadian anthem! The Tigers winning spirit was further bolstered by the unique opportunity of spending time with North Las Vegas Fire Department, touring and participating in their training facility. Special thanks to Darcy Lowen, (former Tigers Alumni, former NHL player and current training officer at the North Las Vegas Fire Department), who may have inspired a few dreams of growing up and becoming a firefighter/hockey player. Go Tigers!
