The SCAHL would like to extend our best wishes to all of our participants and supporters for a great summer, and look forward to the 2010-11 season which will commence September 24, 2010.


SCAHL Announces 2010 Award Winners

Each season the SCAHL presents awards to players in each of the Pee Wee AA, Bantam AA and Midget AA divisions. The awards recognize outstanding individual achievement both on and off the ice. There are 4 awards based on a vote of the coaches, an award to the Top Scorer in each division, and the Most Exemplary Player Award which is selected by the SCAHL Board of Directors based on written submissions from teams.

This seasons Top Scorer Awards went to:

Pee Wee AA - Ryan Barrow, Bow Valley Timberwolves

Bantam AA - Gabe Larochelle, Medicine Hat Callaghan Hounds 

Midget AA - Alex Pronchuk, Foothills Bisons 

The Most Sportsmanlike Award recognizes players who exemplify the characteristics of good sportsmanship, team spirit and are known as tough but clean competitors. The recipients are:

Pee Wee AA - Brett Daquay. Medicine Hat Sports Connection Hounds 

Bantam AA - Sean McMaster, Okotoks Oilers 

Midget AA - Lindon Skelly, Taber Golden Suns

The Most Valuable Forward Award recognizes the most outstanding front line player, and the recipients are:

Pee Wee AA - Ryan Barrow, Bow Valley Timberwolves

Bantam AA - Jared Marchi, Cranbrook Ice

Midget AA - Alex Pronchuk, Foothills Bisons

The Best Defenseman Award recognizes the most outstanding defenseman, and the recipients are:

Pee Wee AA - Jessie Freeborn, Red Deer TBS 

Bantam AA - Isaac Schacher, Cranbrook Ice

Midget AA - Matt Howatt, Wheatland Chiefs 

The outstanding goalie is awarded The Best Goaltender Award, and this year's awards go to:

Pee Wee AA - Arik Weersink, Lethbridge Eagles

Bantam AA - Dakota Taylor, Wheatland Warriors 

Midget AA - Daniel Baigent, Wheatland Chiefs 

The Most Exemplary Player Award is awarded to the player who best exemplifies:

Proficiency in Hockey Performance; Sportsmanship; Contribution to Team; High Quality Life Skills and Scholastic Performance. The SCAHL Board of Directors is proud to honour the following players:

Pee Wee AA - Brock Lefevbre, Cranbrook Ice 

Bantam AA - Carter Hansen, Foothills Bisons

Midget AA - Trevor Schwass

Midget AA All Star Game 2010

In a highly entertaining match-up of some of the best Midget AA hockey players in Alberta, the Calgary All Stars scored 3 early markers and held on for a 6-3 win over the SCAHL All Stars.  Connor Lowe-Wylde of the Southwest Rockies had 2 goals and was selected the SCAHL Player of the Game.

Saturday, April 10, 2010 - SCAHL vs Calgary Midget AA All Star Game

 

As a wrap up to the 2009-10 Midget AA season, the SCAHL Midget All Star team will face off against the best of the 8 Calgary AA teams.  The All Star game will be hosted this year by Hockey Calgary, and goes on Saturday, April 10 at 2:00 pm at Father David Bauer Arena on the U of C campus.

The SCAHL All Star team will be coached by the Lethbridge Hockey Hounds staff Blaine Fomradas and Devin Windle.  The SCAHL All Star roster follows.
